A FINE TEMPLE HANGING
Tibet, the textiles 17th c. and later
155 x 75 cm
This hanging served as a decorative beam hanging, consisting of drooping, overlapping, tongue-shaped bands. The bands alternate in two colors, dark blue and light orange. The patterns vary between dragon, cloud and rain motifs. The upper finial is a wide transverse band of vermilion patterned brocade, with an "imperial yellow" insert with the motif of a dragon playing with a pearl. Between the ends of the ribbons and the wide brocade ribbon is inserted a narrow yellow ribbon, with the classic rain-and-cloud pattern. Made of various brocades. Addtioinal two textile fragments.

Dieser Behang diente als dekorativer Balkenbehang, bestehend aus herabhängenden, sich überlappenden, zungenförmigen Bändern. Die Bänder alternieren in den beiden Farben dunkelblau und hellem orange. Die Muster variieren zwischen Drachen-, Wolken- und Regenmotiven. Den oberen Abschluß bildet ein breites quer verlaufendes Band aus zinnoberfarbigem gemustertem Brokat, mit einem „kaisergelben“ Einsatz mit dem Motiv eines mit einer Perle spielenden Drachen. Zwischen den Enden der Bänder und dem breiten Brokatband ist ein schmales gelbes Band, mit dem klassischen Regen-und-Wolken Muster, eingesetzt. Verschiedenartige Brokate, dazu zwei Textilien-Fragmente.
